Flood of 2011

This rainy season (May-October) has been a very wet one but we have avoided catastrophic floods like other parts of the country until now. The last several days have brought torrential rains and the river Ping finally over-flowed her banks. Fortunately our home has been spared (thus far) but traffic is a mess and many people’s homes have been devastated. Please pray for Chiang Mai during this difficult time.

The road to Lamphun province

The super-highway where it crosses the river
...

September 2011 Prayer Letter

Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and enabling. After 8 ½ years in Thailand I am slowing starting to realize how big and difficult the task is that is before us. Yet in it all, we can see the hand of the Lord working in Thailand.

New Life Baptist, Chiang Mai. The rainy season has been dry concerning new visitors and people being saved. We had one young man (about 24) who was saved and baptized and has been faithful to services since. We have also had a young man (about 23) who has left...

Greetings,

Please be in prayer for our annual revival meetings this weekend. We will begin on Saturday the 23rd at 7 PM (8AM EST Saturday morning). We will have five meetings total on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We have passed out many fliers and invited many friends and co-workers. We are praying for many to be saved and hearts to be stirred. I will update you when the meetings are over.

For the Lord in Thailand

Mike Frederick

May 2011 Prayer Letter

May 2011

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. This is a passage that encourages me because often serving the Lord involves waiting on the Lord which doesn’t come naturally to most of us. Yet it is a joy to see the Lord break through and work in people’s hearts. Does this mean I have some spectacular news to report? No. It just means I am waiting patiently on the Lord and based on what He has done, I know that He ...

January-February Prayer Letter

March 2011

Happy Summer! With the close of February we have the privilege of welcoming the hot weather (It’s in the mid 90’s right now). This year marks our eighth of serving the Lord in Thailand, and it also marks the tenth year since we started raising support. What a blessing to have so many churches and individuals behind us for such a long period of time.

New Life Baptist Chiang Mai. In December a friend of one of our members started attending church. She was pregnant without a hu...

Three of our four children are able to be with us in Chiang Mai and for that we are thankful.
Family Camp

Our annual family camp went really well. The Lord blessed with several decisions and one young man accepted the Lord as Savior and two were baptized. Bro. Dennis Potts, missionary in the Philippines was a real blessing to our church. We had several last minute cancelations, but we still had a good group and there was a good spirit at the camp. Thanks for praying!

Mike Frederick
Chiang Mai, Thailand
July Prayer Letter
July 2010

Praise God for His goodness. It has been a long, hot summer but the rains have finally started and with it our church attendance has been growing also. We have much to report, so on to the news:
Attendance: During the last month, the attendance at our Chiang Mai church has almost doubled. Our members have been inviting people and praise the Lord, they have started coming. This does pose a problem as our church is almost packed to capacity. We are actively looking for a larg...

New Missionaries

It is with great joy that we heard the news of a new missionary starting deputation to join is the church planting effort in Chiang Mai. Atalie Habal is a young single lady that is just graduating college. After a missions trip with her family in June 2009 she felt the Lord leading her to return to Thailand to help our ministry full time. She will be working primarily with children which is one area that our church can really use help. We have the opportunity to teach Bible in many schools b...

Back From Camp

Greetings from Thailand,

Our 5th anniversary celebration is complete and was a great success. We had 32 at camp this year (down from 48 last year) but the Lord used this as a time to revive our hearts. The preaching by missionary Dan Gardner (Missionary for 32 years in Japan) were spot on and stirred almost everyone’s heart. We only had one lost person this year and he didn’t get saved, but he was left with much to think about. Please continue to pray for Bens that he will be saved soon...

English Services

We have recently had a large influx of missionaries to Thailand which is a blessing. Three families have decided to study language in Chiang Mai and have started coming to our church. This has increased our attendance significantly. it is very difficult coming to a new country with your family and you cannot understand the songs, the preaching, the prayers, nothing. In order to help encourage these new families (and ourselves) we have started Sunday evening services in English. Our first ser...

January 2010

Happy New Year! Since Camp in October the Lord has been working. Let me share some of the highlights:

5th Anniversary Camp: We were down numbers wise, but there was a good spirit, and the speaker (missionary Dan Gardner from Japan) had timely messages; it was an encouraging time. The Lord convicted many hearts, and Lord willing, this will prove to be a spring board for the future.

Chimes Group: Our home church, Grace Baptist, Panama City, ...

Missions Team

It is always an exciting time to have a missions team come, even more so when it is your home church. Grace Baptist Church sent a 13 member chimes musical team to minister and open doors for us in Hang Dong. In total they played in five schools, one university, one outdoor market, and four churches. It was a busy week, but a real encouragement to our church and us. the results? Well that won;t be known for a while. But we have more opportunities in our local schools than we can possibly ha...

There's no place like Wang Mai

Wang Mai as you might know is our church plant in a Lisu tribal village. About 6 months ago we found a small lot to purchase for our church there. Our home church's Men for Missions group donated money for the land and most of the building construction costs. We were ready to close the deal when we found out the owner doesn't have a title. He assured us the government would do a survey quickly (government, quickly; get it??) and we would be able to purchse the land in no time (six months an...

As most of you probably know, we have church plants that we are working on.
Salvation Can be a Mysterious Thing

It is always exciting to see someone get saved. It is even more exciting to see how mysteriously God works in the hearts of men. Around the beginning of May we had a real surprise. The son of one of our ladies told his mom he was coming to church on Wednesday night. A week later he told his mom that he had gotten saved. She had been inviting him and witnessing to him for years and then wham. For no apparent reason he realizes his need and accepts the Lord as Savior! God really does work ...
